Garner. I named her after one of my favorite state parks in Texas. Right near Uvalde, where we spent lots of summers tubing on the river, swinging on rope swings, laughing with my Grandmother and playing with my Uncle.
She came into my life exactly 6 months after Misty passed away, in a way that made me think that we needed each other – a two-year-old, creme-colored Golden Retriever.
We’ve been together for 7 weeks and it was rough in the beginning… Garner was very skittish, fearful, not eating, sick and having trouble adapting to her new home. For me, there were quite a few tearful nights as I realized she wasn’t Misty, she was just as scared as I was and I didn’t know if I could really love another dog. Had I made a mistake?
But now, 7 weeks later, we’ve figured each other out. She is eating, playing, wagging her tail a lot, enjoying long walks, learning to ride in the car and today she started obedience training. It only took her one lesson and we already have figured out a few basic commands. Clearly, she is a brilliant dog. 🙂
Oh, and I love her and she loves me 🙂
Love, me
I am so happy for you, Congratulations, it sounds like Garner really needs you and the Lord knew you needed her.:)
