I turned 38 yesterday… I am still coming to terms with that and now I absolutely understand the urge to fudge the truth when discussing your age!  38?  38!

It was a quiet day –  I woke up in a bit of a funk (did I mention I turned 38) so I took off on a hike.  My foot is killing me as a result, but it was worth it.  It was early and I watched the sunrise from the beach – so quiet and peaceful. It was probably my favorite part of the day and worth getting up early!

Then I went to the spa for a little birthday pampering with a massage and facial.  I followed that up with a BIG breakfast which is my absolute favorite meal of the day and then followed that up with popcorn and diet coke at the movies 🙂  I saw No Strings Attached and it was cute and non-thought provoking which is what is required of a birthday movie!

Next on the agenda, I put on my bathing suit (sorry East Coasters, it WAS that warm here 🙂 ) and headed to the beach.  I spent a few hours enjoying the sun and watching the beach volleyball games. Naturally, I was only interested in the athletic abilities of the players… nothing else…I promise 🙂  One of the aforementioned, gifted athletes, at the ripe of old age of 18, struck up a conversation with me and asked for my phone number.   I think he might have been genuinely shocked when I told him I was old enough to be his mother …  So I patted him on his head and sent him on his way but THAT was the best birthday present EVER!

After the ego-boosting adventure at the beach, I spent a few hours with Misty.  She had a great day – three walks, lots of tail wagging and nose kisses.  Maybe I have found the right balance of meds that keep her comfortable and pain-free. Fingers crossed.

I ended the nights with friends, catching up over drinks.  All that fun, coupled with the amazing birthday wishes on Facebook, fun text messages and lots of loving voicemails served to make me feel very special.  Thanks to everyone for putting the HAPPY in Happy Birthday!

Love, me
